Tough Away Night for Skillcentre D at Framlingham
It was a challenging road trip for Skillcentre D in Division 7 action on September 25, as we came up short against a very strong Framlingham & Glevering Men B side, falling 7 to 2.
Despite the heavy overall scoreline, the squad showed plenty of grit and battled for every half-point. Ishan Weerakkody and Adrian Farn led the resistance for our side, securing a full point across the night by taking a game off both the home first and third strings. A major highlight of the evening was their clutch 23-21 second-game victory over the Framlingham third pair to snatch a vital split.
James Rose and Martin Wetherill also got on the board for Skillcentre, taking the fight straight to the home top seed (Newman and Turner) by winning a tight opening game 21-17 to force a hard-earned split. Rob Kairys and Neil Maxwell fought valiantly in the middle, pushing the home second string to a nail-biting 23-21 finish before rallying in round two to steal a game 21-12 off the home third pair.
Ultimately, the home side’s second string—Angus Thompson and Robin Hurlock—proved to be the difference-makers. They were absolutely flawless on the night, sweeping all three of their matches to comfortably seal the win for Framlingham.
