Tough Home Defeat for Skillcentre C Against Fram/Glev B
It was a difficult night on home turf on October 1, as Skillcentre C faced a formidable Fram/Glev B side in Division 7, ultimately falling 3 to 6.
Miles Miller and John Calver were the undeniable standout performers for our squad, battling hard to secure 2 crucial points. They comfortably handled the away side’s third string in straight games (21-12, 21-15) and showed fantastic grit to grind out hard-earned splits against both the Fram/Glev first and second pairs. Their 21-17 opening game win against the visitors’ top string was a major highlight of the evening.
Graham Chappell and Martin Benstead also added a full point to our tally, delivering an absolutely ruthless performance to dismantle Payne and Baxter with a blistering 21-10, 21-4 victory. They came agonizingly close to stealing a game from the visitors’ top string as well, pushing Hurlock and Thompson to the limit before narrowly dropping a tense opening battle 20-22.
Despite our squad’s resilience, the away side’s top order proved just a bit too strong on the night. The pairings of Hurlock & Thompson and Kirk & Turner were relentless, combining to drop only a single game across their matchups to keep the overall victory firmly in Fram/Glev B’s hands.
