Skillcentre ‘B’ Secure Gritty Away Victory at Con Club!

Skillcentre ‘B’ took to the road on October 6 for a Division 4 clash against Con Club, returning home with a fantastic 5½ to 3½ victory.

Somesh Velagala and Aaron Heard had a phenomenal night on the court, acting as the bedrock for the team’s victory by taking a maximum 3 points. They managed to sweep all three of their matchups in straight games, setting the tone early with a nail-biting 23-21 second-game finish against the home third string before cruising past their top two pairs.

Graham Bolton and Prashanth Chakkula also delivered a brilliant shift, pulling in 1.5 crucial points. They dismantled Con Club’s second string with a confident 21-15, 21-16 straight-game sweep and ground out a tough split against the home top pair, taking the first game 21-19.

Ash Watts and Simon Colwill rounded out our scoring with an incredibly resilient display, fighting for a full point by forcing splits against both the home second and third strings. Despite Con Club putting up a stubborn defense, especially with their top pair edging a tight 22-20 second game against Ash and Simon, our overall squad depth and a flawless performance from the third string ensured we took the well-deserved away win.
