Skillcentre ‘D’ Secure Fantastic Home Victory Over Woodbridge ‘C’!
Skillcentre ‘D’ put on a brilliant display on home turf on November 5, battling their way to a well-deserved 5½ to 3½ victory over Woodbridge ‘C’ in Division 7 action.
Daniel Calver on his league debut and Prasan Fernado were the undisputed MVPs for our squad, anchoring the team with a massive 2.5 points. They were clinical against the visitors’ middle and bottom order, executing confident straight-game sweeps over both pairs (21-13, 21-15 and 21-13, 21-14). They capped off their incredible night by showing serious grit to force a split against Woodbridge’s formidable top string, taking a hard-fought opening game 21-17.
Adrian Farn and James Rose showed fantastic resilience to add 1.5 points to the board. After dropping a nail-biting 22-24 opening game in the first round, they bounced back beautifully, grinding out a tough split in round two before completely dominating the away second string with a 21-7, 21-13 sweep to finish the night.
Rob Kairys and James Elms mirrored that contribution perfectly, also pulling in 1.5 points for the side. They set a ruthless tone early by dismantling the Woodbridge second pair 21-11, 21-9, and showed massive character in the final round to rally from a first-game deficit and steal a vital split against the visitors’ third string (19-21, 21-17) to help seal the overall team win.
