ough Night for Skillcentre D Against Ipswich Tigers C

It was a challenging Division 7 clash on home turf on October 29, as Skillcentre D came up short in a 2 to 7 defeat against a formidable Ipswich Tigers C side.

Ishan Weerakkody and Prasan Fernado provided the biggest highlight of the evening for our squad, securing our only full point. They opened their night with a fantastic performance, dominating the visitors’ third string (Khan & Khan) with a clinical 21-12, 21-19 straight-game sweep.

Our other pairs fought hard for every half-point against a very strong Tigers lineup. James Rose and Adrian Farn showed massive grit in their final matchup against the Tigers’ third string, battling to a nail-biting split after taking the first game 22-20 and narrowly dropping an exhausting second game 23-25. They also pushed the visitors’ second pair to the absolute limit in round two, just missing out on a split after a tight 20-22 second game.

Rob Kairys and James Elms also got on the board, snatching a vital half-point from Khan & Khan by taking their opening game comfortably 21-13 before the visitors rallied in the second. Ultimately, the Tigers’ top two pairings were a wall on the night, remaining completely unbeaten to keep the victory firmly in the away team’s hands.
